On September 25–26, 2024, the 2024 National Scientific Conference on Biotechnology officially took place at Indochine Palace Hotel in Hue City.
The 21st century is often referred to as the "era" of biotechnology, as countries around the world race to develop this high-potential field. Biotechnology is a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary science that integrates biology, chemistry, physics, and process engineering to harness living organisms for the production of goods and services for human benefit. Its applications are wide-ranging—from the production of pharmaceuticals and food, to industrial and agricultural chemicals, biofuels, crop and livestock improvement, disease diagnostics and treatment, and even environmental pollution management.
This annual conference, organized by the Vietnam Association of Biotechnology and the Vietnam Union of Biological Associations, brought together scientists, lecturers, researchers, postgraduate students, university students, and professionals from universities, research institutes, and high-tech companies across sectors including biotechnology, agriculture, food science, environment, and healthcare. It served as a vibrant platform to present the latest research findings, exchange knowledge, and explore interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.
This year's conference also marked a special milestone—the 10th anniversary of the Institute of Biotechnology, Hue University (2014–2024).
